If you interact with Wilma or other AI-assisted features, we may collect your prompts, questions, answers, uploaded context, AI outputs, corrections, ratings, and related usage data.

4. Sensitive Personal Information

Some information you provide may be considered sensitive under certain laws, including criminal-record information, government identifiers, account credentials, financial information, precise location if collected, contents of communications, and information that may reveal protected characteristics.

We process sensitive personal information only as reasonably necessary to provide the services you request, maintain security, comply with law, prevent fraud, improve service quality, communicate with you, or fulfill another purpose disclosed to you.

We do not use sensitive legal or criminal-record information to sell advertising profiles.

5. How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

Provide, operate, and improve LegalEase services; create, manage, and secure your account; conduct eligibility screenings and self-help workflows; generate draft documents, checklists, packets, summaries, or guidance; save progress and restore unfinished workflows where available; process payments and refunds; provide customer support; communicate with you about your account, product, status, or requests; support partner programs and co-branded intake flows; detect fraud, abuse, security incidents, or unauthorized access; debug, test, and improve product performance; comply with laws, court orders, subpoenas, lawful requests, and legal obligations; enforce our Terms; protect LegalEase, users, partners, and the public; and conduct internal analytics, quality review, training, and product development.

6. AI-Assisted Features

LegalEase may use artificial intelligence, automation, rules engines, and document-generation tools to support intake, screening, self-help guidance, document preparation, workflow assistance, and customer support.

AI-assisted features may produce incomplete, outdated, or incorrect information. AI outputs are not legal advice, do not create an attorney-client relationship, and should be reviewed carefully before use.

We may use service providers to help operate AI-assisted features. We do not knowingly permit service providers to use your sensitive legal records to train general-purpose AI models for their own independent benefit. Service providers may process data only to provide services to LegalEase, subject to applicable agreements and safeguards.

7. How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose personal information as described below.

A. Service Providers

We may share information with vendors that help us provide hosting, databases, analytics, email, SMS, customer support, payments, security, document generation, AI processing, storage, fraud prevention, and other operational services.

B. Payment Processors

Payment information may be processed by third-party payment providers. Their use of payment data is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

C. Partner Organizations

If you use LegalEase through a partner page, referral link, RCAP program, clinic, community organization, workforce program, legal-aid partner, city, county, nonprofit, funder, or similar organization, we may share limited information with that partner, such as intake status, contact information, eligibility status, program activity, aggregate metrics, or information necessary to provide the partner-supported service.

We do not give partners unrestricted access to your private legal records unless you authorize it, the workflow clearly involves that partner, or disclosure is necessary to provide the partner-supported service.

D. At Your Direction

We may share information when you ask us to do so, such as sending information to a partner, downloading materials, preparing documents, or submitting information through a feature you choose to use.

E. Legal and Safety Reasons

We may disclose information to comply with law, legal process, court orders, subpoenas, government requests, or regulatory obligations; to enforce our Terms; to protect rights, safety, and security; to investigate fraud or misuse; or to protect LegalEase, users, partners, or others.

F. Business Transfers

If LegalEase is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, asset sale, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate protections.

G. Aggregated or De-Identified Information

We may use and disclose aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you, including for research, reporting, analytics, grant reporting, product improvement, partner reporting, or public-interest analysis.

8. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking

We may use cookies, pixels, local storage, analytics tools, and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, secure accounts, understand usage, improve services, and measure performance.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Some features may not work properly if cookies are disabled.

We do not knowingly sell sensitive legal or criminal-record information. Where required by law, we honor valid browser-based opt-out signals, including Global Privacy Control, for applicable opt-out rights.

9. Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising

LegalEase does not sell your sensitive legal, court, criminal-record, or document information.

LegalEase does not use your sensitive record-clearing information for targeted advertising.

If we ever use advertising, analytics, or tracking technologies that are considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” under applicable privacy laws, we will provide required notices and opt-out mechanisms.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the services, maintain your account, complete transactions, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud, improve services, and maintain business records.

Retention periods may vary based on the type of information, the product used, legal requirements, account status, partner-program requirements, and operational needs.

We may retain de-identified or aggregated information for longer periods.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.

No system is perfectly secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for using secure devices, networks, and passwords.

If we discover a data-security incident requiring notice, we will provide notice as required by applicable law.

12. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request that we:

Confirm whether we process your personal information; access categories or specific pieces of personal information; correct inaccurate information; delete personal information; obtain a portable copy of personal information; opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling; limit the use or disclosure of sensitive personal information; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; appeal a denied privacy request; and avoid discrimination for exercising privacy rights.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We may deny or limit requests where permitted by law, including when we cannot verify your identity, when retention is required by law, when information is needed to provide a requested service, when disclosure would create security risks, or when another legal exception applies.
